Robert Morris Football Sees High Ranking in NEC Preseason Poll
The Robert Morris football team exceeded expectations a season ago as they stayed in contention for the Northeast Conference title up until the final weeks of the season.
While the Colonials made a statement in their return to the NEC, most of their top playmakers from last year’s team have either graduated or transferred.
Some of the key departures included quarterback Anthony Chiccitt, running back Tyvon Edmonds Jr., wide receiver Noah Robinson, cornerback Rob Carter Jr. and linebackers Jamar Shegog and Keon Freeman.
While there are still question marks regarding head coach Bernard Clark Jr.’s new-look roster, the league’s coaches think highly of the Colonials this season as they ranked Robert Morris in a tie for third-place in the league’s preseason poll that was released on Monday.

While Robert Morris ranked tied for third-place with Long Island University, the Colonials received one first-place vote while the Sharks received zero.
Above Robert Morris, the league’s coaches ranked crosstown rival Duquesne second with two first first-place votes and projected last year’s champion Central Connecticut State to repeat in 2025.
Wagner, St. Francis, Mercyhurst and Stonehill, in that order, were all projected to finish below Robert Morris in the preseason poll.
The Colonials went 4-2 in NEC league games a year ago with the only two losses coming against Duquesne and Central Connecticut State in back-to-back weeks near the end of the season.
With the official preseason poll released, the start of the college football season is right around the corner as the Colonials’ first game of the season is in just 25 days.
