Despite the fact that Robert Morris will travel down to West Virginia for a season-opening duel against the Mountaineers in less than two weeks, the Colonials are still piecing some things together.

The Colonials experienced a successful first season back in the Northeast Conference last year and a big reason for that immediate success was high-level play on the defensive side of the ball, and especially from their linebackers.

Last season, the two All-Conference linebackers in the middle of the Colonials’ defense, Jamar Shegog and Keon Freeman, finished with the top-two tackle totals in the entire conference and became the first pair of Colonial teammates to each record 100+ tackles in the same season.

Now with the two of them officially off of the roster, head coach Bernard Clark Jr. wanted to replace them with experienced, veteran players which he accomplished, for the most part.

While there was no real announcement from either party, a former ACC linebacker’s name appeared on the football team’s roster recently and a source close to the situation confirmed that the player signed with the program earlier in the offseason.
