Former Robert Morris and current BC Lions defensive back Rob Carter Jr. is no stranger to making headlines due to his ability to haul in once-in-a-lifetime interceptions.

In a game against Utah State last season, Carter went viral on social media after contorted his body in midair and picked a pass off with one hand while spinning to the ground. His interception against the Aggies ended up as the No. 1 play on SportsCenter Top-10 plays.

Fast forward nearly a year later and Carter nearly one-upped himself when he intercepted a pass against the Hamilton Tiger-Cats of the Canadian Football League.

Not only did the announcers go berserk due to Carter’s insane catch on Sunday but the sports universe reacted in a big-time way.

After Carter went undrafted in the 2025 NFL Draft, the Baltimore Ravens invited him to their rookie mini-camp. He attended the camp but the Ravens decided to not sign him to an NFL contract.

That experience led him to exploring other options to extend his football career which ultimately led him to signing with the BC Lions.

Through his first eight games with the Lions, Carter has recorded 30 total tackles, two interceptions and a forced fumble. Despite his success as a first-year pro, the Lions maintain a 3-5 record after falling to the Tiger-Cats over the weekend.

Carter played his final two collegiate seasons at Robert Morris and amassed 66 tackles, eight tackles for loss, two sacks and five interceptions across 22 games.

He hauled in four of his five interceptions as a senior and even started to play on the offensive side of the ball by the end of the season as he made two catches for 12 yards.

Additionally, Carter excelled as a kick returner and recorded one kick return touchdown against Central Connecticut State last season.

Despite the Robert Morris football program is not being known for producing professional talent, at least as of recently, Carter is an exception as he has showed the ability to thrive in one of North America’s top professional football leagues.

His success with the BC Lions as a rookie is phenomenal for an FCS program such as Robert Morris as they can use it to lure in higher-rated recruits.

While Robert Morris is preparing to head to Morgantown for a showdown with the Mountaineers, the former Colonials’ defensive back is continuing to make a name for himself as a professional.
