Robert Morris WBB Adds Size to Roster After Signing Transfer Forward
The Robert Morris women’s basketball program added two more transfers over the weekend, prior to this week’s recruiting shutdown, and one will likely fill a massive void on Chandler McCabe’s squad.
McCabe brought in a plethora of guards this offseason, either via the portal or high school recruiting, but the one thing that her roster lacked was size outside of 6-foot-3 Myriam Traore and 6-foot-4 Ava Leroux.
McCabe managed to add to that group over the weekend when Robert Morris officially signed 6-foot-2 Austin Peay transfer forward Maeva Fotsa.
Prior to signing with Robert Morris, Fotsa spent two seasons at the Division-I level, last year at Austin Peay and the season before at George Washington.
While at Austin Peay, Fotsa appeared in 25 games and started two games. She averaged just 8.0 minutes per game and scored 1.8 points and recorded 1.5 rebounds per game.
The season before, her only season at George Washington, Fotsa did not record any official stats or appear in any games.
Fotsa has not posted eye-popping numbers at the Division-I level yet, but what stuck out to McCabe and the Colonials was her first two collegiate seasons at the JUCO level. Fotsa averaged a double-double with 12.2 points and 10.4 rebounds per game during her sophomore season at South Georgia Tech.
Fotsa’s ceiling as a player is high, and McCabe hopes to tap into that potential in the forward’s last season of eligibility.
To put her skills into perspective, Fotsa recorded 10 or more rebounds in 17 games while at South Georgia Tech and tallied a career-highs of 26 points and 19 rebounds in seperate contests her sophomore season.
Fotsa will immediately slot into the Colonials’ roster as a rotational forward/center, but will likely play key minutes behind Traore and Leroux due to the roster being heavily littered with guards and wings.
