Robert Morris commit Russell Holmes Jr. - Holmes' X account

The Robert Morris football program is already facing the ramifications of losing defensive line coach Derrick Nsubuga who stepped down from his coaching gig to pursue ministry.

Robert Morris hired Coach Nsubuga, also known as Coach Zoo, earlier in the offseason after he spent two seasons as a graduate assistant at Utah State. While he was prepared to coach up the defensive lineman on the roster, he also made an immediate impact on the recruiting trail.

Due to Coach Zoo’s efforts, Robert Morris earned its first commitment in the Class of 2026 from an in-state edge rusher less than two weeks ago.

While it appeared to be a massive win on recruiting front, after the news of Coach Zoo’s departure surfaced late last week, that recruit decided to reopen his commitment as he decommitted from the Colonials on Sunday.
