Robert Morris Adds 6-Foot-11 International Forward
Robert Morris head coach Andy Toole reloaded his roster in a big way this offseason. Many would argue that next year’s roster that he managed to piece together in the span of a couple of months may just be better than last season’s 22-win team, but it still lacked one major piece, a towering forward.
That void was filled on Monday when Robert Morris received a commitment from 6-foot-11 Russian forward Daniil Stolbetskiy which he announced via his Instagram.
The 19-year-old Stolbetskiy spent parts of the last two seasons playing professional basketball for Fuenlabrada of the Spanish Primera FEB league in addition to playing on the Russian U20 National Team. Prior to him joining Fuenlabrada, Stolbetskiy played for Real Madrid’s U18 squad.
Stolbetskiy joined Fuenlabrada during the 2024-25 season but appeared in just one game. He managed to carve out a role on the team this past season and played in 20 games but averaged just 1.5 points and 0.6 rebounds per game. When Stoolbetskiy did play, he was an effective scorer as he finished the 2025-26 season with a 52% shooting percentage.
While Stolbetskiy is more of a raw talent than proven acquisition, especially at the Division-I level, there is much to be intrigued about.
His 6-foot-11 frame will allow him to play as a true center at Robert Morris rather than a power forward due to the Colonials’ other forward acquisition of the offseason being just 6-foot-8 and he was a capable scorer when called upon while at Fuenlabrada.
Above all else, Stolbetskiy will be coached by Toole who guided two separate big-men to Horizon League Player of the Year awards the past two seasons and has illustrated his success in finding and developing international players. The latter part is evident by Alvaro Folgueiras’ Player of the Year campaign during the 2024-25 season and Samuel Obenjo’s development and emergence throughout the 2025-26 season.
Stolbetskiy joins a strong incoming transfer class that includes starting-caliber players across the board with guard Ace Valentine (UMBC), wings Jalik Dunkley (Nicholls State) and Kiwane Garris Jr. (Cal State Fullerton), and forward KC Ugwuakazi (Merrimack) all either committed or officially signed.
That group does not even include the trio of core players (Darius Livingston Jr., Eddie Cooke III, Samuel Obenjo and Ta’Zir Smith) from last year’s squad that announced their intentions of returning to Robert Morris.
Needless to say, Stolbetskiy is a fantastic piece to round out the roster with, though Toole and his staff may have a one or two more additions hidden up their sleeves even with the roster being as loaded as it already is at this point of the offseason.
