Huge Week Continues for Robert Morris with Addition of Transfer F KC Ugwuakazi
Having gone through the unfortunate situation of losing players year after year in the transfer portal, it’s no longer a big deal to Robert Morris men’s basketball coach Andy Toole.
Following the 2025-26 in which his team went 22-11, Toole saw a few of his top players (DeSean Goode, Ryan Prather, Nikolaos Chitkoudis) make the decision to enter the portal.
It’s something that he knows is likely going to happen at the end of the year, so instead of getting frustrated, Toole simply rolls up his sleeves and hunts the transfer portal for talented players to replace them.
That’s exactly what Robert Morris has done and today they capped off a highly tremendous week in the portal with the addition of Merrimack transfer forward KC Ugwuakazi.
Last season, the 6’8″ forward was named the MAAC Defensive Player of the Year, while averaging 5.2 points, 5.1 rebounds and 2.2 blocks per game.
While it’s yet to be seen how much more Ugwuakazi can add offensively, he will be adding toughness and a tremendous defensive presence.
Earlier this week, RMU brought in talented Cal State Fullerton transfer guard Kiwane Garris, Jr., along with former Nicholls State forward Jalik Dunkley.
Last season, Dunkley averaged 12.4 points, 6.7 rebounds and 1.1 assists per game, while Garris averaged 8.2 points and 3.4 rebounds and shot 49% from the field and 43% from three-point range as a freshman.
These players along with another big transfer get in guard Ace Valentine (UMCB) along with returnees Darius Livingston, Ta’Zir Smith, Eddie Cooke II and Samuel Obenjo give Robert Morris plenty of reasons for continued optimism.
