The Robert Morris women’s basketball team may have landed a true x-factor with its latest transfer portal addition.

On Sunday, Robert Morris officially announced the signing of Duquesne transfer Mackenzie Blackford.

Blackford is the type of established shooter and experience guard that Robert Morris head coach Chandler McCabe needed after the graduations of Aislin Malcolm, Noa Givon and Jada Lee despite the plethora of other guards that the program has brought in to this point of the offseason.

Blackford quickly became a three-point specialist at Duquesne as she made 70 triples as a freshman across 33 appearances which ranked 10th in program history for most made threes in a single season.

She one-upped herself in her second year with the Dukes as she knocked down 75 three-pointers. That mark was good for seventh in program history for most in a single season.

Blackford started 27 games this past season and averaged 10.6 points, 2.8 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1.3 steals per outing. Her 35% three-point percentage ranked sixth in the A-10 Conference.

Her career game came this past season against St. Bonaventure as she went off for 27 points and made a career-high seven triples.

While nothing is set in stone with it being just April, with Blackford now in the fold as one of the more experienced additions of the offseason, she is a pencil in starter along with All-Conference returners Eva Levingston and Myriam Traore.

With the additions of Blackford and the other three transfers, the 2026-27 Robert Morris team is beginning to take shape as the roster currently sits at 12 players.
