MOON TWP, Pa. — Robert Morris University formally introduced Dr. Ron Moses as the school’s new Vice President and Director of Athletics on Friday morning following a nearly two-month national inquiry of the candidate pool.

“Robert Morris University is a place where excellence and opportunity meet,” Moses said in the university’s official announcement. “I’m honored by the trust President Patrick and the hiring committee have placed in me, and grateful to everyone across campus who made this process so welcoming. My commitment is clear: we will build a program where student-athletes graduate, compete for championships, and represent RMU with pride. We want RMU Athletics to be a rallying point for our campus, our alumni, Moon Township, and the entire Pittsburgh region. Building that legacy takes all of us. To the RMU community – thank you in advance for your support. Let’s get to work.”

Moses, a veteran of the US Army and US National Guard, spent seven years at Old Dominion University as the Deputy Athletic Director for student-athlete advancement, revenue growth, and competitive strategy. His role at Old Dominion was to provide leadership and vision across student-athlete advancement, NIL and revenue-share programming, academic services, alumni engagement, and competitive strategy.

During his tenure at ODU, Moses helped the athletics department transition from Conference USA to the Sun Belt across many sports including football and basketball. It was a move that paid dividends as the football team recorded its first 10-win season this past season since the 2016 season.

Prior to his time at Old Dominion, Moses spent time in academic and administrative roles at the University of Missouri, Georgia State University, the University of South Florida, and Kansas State University. His work keyed in on student development, competitive excellence, and sustainable financial models that strengthened athletics.

In addition to being named as the Vice President and Athletic Director at Robert Morris, Moses currently serves as Vice Chair of the NCAA Division I Committee on Academics.

Moses joins Robert Morris nearly two-full months after former Vice President and Director of Athletics — Chris King — stepped down from the role on June 1. He inherits a program that has been on the rise over the last handful of years with multiple programs winning championships and will look to take it to the next level under his financial and NIL models.
