Robert Morris G Ryan Prather Jr. Makes Team USA 3×3 Debut
The last 12 months have been eventful for Robert Morris guard/forward Ryan Prather Jr., to say the least.
After winning the program’s first ever Horizon League Championship and helping the Colonials reach the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2015, Prather faced a tough decision regarding his college basketball career.
The two choices that he had were to join the majority of his teammates in the transfer portal in search of a bigger opportunity or stay loyal to Robert Morris and head coach Andy Toole. Prather opted to return to the Colonials.
Then recently, Prather was hit with another choice, albeit one far less difficult to make, which was to represent his home country while playing the game that he loves. Prather accepted a spot on the five-player 2025 USA 3×3 Men’s Nations League Team.

Prather recently landed in Punta Arenas, Chile, for the 2025 FIBA 3×3 Nations League Americas Conference which tipped off on Monday and will be capped off on Sunday, July 27, 2025.
Team USA kicked the opening-day off win an 18-15 victory over Argentina on Monday afternoon before taking down Canada by the score of 17-16 in the Stop 1 Final. Prather finished the first game with five points and led the way in the second game with a team-high 8 points.

The FIBA 3×3 Nations League is a qualification route to the 2025 FIBA 3×3 U23 World Cup with conference winners qualifying for the event which is set for September, 17-21 in Xiong An, China.
The rules for 3×3 basketball are different than college basketball, obviously, but are still rather simple.
The games are played on a half court with a 10-minute clock and a 12-second shot clock. The first team to 21 points, or the team in the lead at the end of regulation, is the winner.
Prather joins fellow Team USA first-timers Trevor Baskin and TJ Clark, in addition to 3×3 teammates Jason Harvey and Caden Pierce on the Nations League squad.
While Prather’s stint playing 3×3 basketball will surely be unique, his time with Team USA should provide valuable experience as he steps into a larger role for the Colonials this upcoming season.
