RMU Softball Stays Red-Hot, Wins 8th Straight Game

Following a weekend sweep at Green Bay, the Robert Morris softball team stayed on the road with a non-conference contest today at Kent State.

Led by Courtney Poulich, the Colonials offense remained red-hot enroute to a 12-4 victory, the 8th straight win for RMU. This current 8-game winning streak is the longest for Robert Morris since 2013.

Poulich led the way offensively with 6 RBIs, which becomes the 5th time this season that a RMU player has collected at least 5 RBIs in a game. Earlier this season, Poulich tied a program record with a 7 RBI performance.

RMU got on the board first in the 2nd innings courtesy a 2-run double from Kaylyn Hopf. Following a walk to Anna Resnick, Poulich crushed a 3-run HR, which put Robert Morris up 5-0.

In the 4th inning, they increased their led to 7-0 following a 2-run RBI triple from Poulich, which scored Hopf and Resnick, who both singled.

Leading 8-2 in the 6th inning, RMU tacked on 2 more runs thanks to an RBI single from Poulich and an RBI single from freshman Mary Brant. Robert Morris now led 10-2.

The benefactor of all these runs was pitcher Kaitlyn Molitoris, who pitched 5 innings, allowing 2 hits and no earned. This was the 3rd win of the season for Molitoris.

Robert Morris improves to 12-9 on the season and return to action this weekend as they 3-game series at IU Indy, March 28-29.
