Robert Morris Set for Back-to-Back Games in Daytona Beach Classic
When Chandler McCabe was hired as the head coach at Robert Morris, she inherited a Colonials’ program that was at rock bottom in the Horizon League and one that lost much of the respect that it built up over the last two decades.
That resulted in less opportunities for the Colonials in many areas, but one under-the-radar area that was affected was scheduling. Programs and event organizers looked at Robert Morris as a tune-up which limited the amount of intriguing non-conference opportunities that the Colonials received over the last half-decade.
Since her arrival, McCabe helped turn the program back around, and in turn, the Colonials have started to regain some of the respect that was lost which has led to an exciting opportunity for the program this upcoming season.
As part of its non-conference schedule, McCabe’s squad will travel to the state of Florida to play in the Daytona Beach Classic. Robert Morris will tip the event off on Wednesday, Nov. 25, in an opening-day matchup against Stetson followed by a tough test against Clemson the following afternoon.
Robert Morris has played Stetson two other times across program history, losing both games, but has never faced off against Clemson. The event field also includes Boise State, Georgetown, Kentucky, Maine, Rutgers, South Dakota State and Tulane.
Robert Morris’ non-conference schedule, though still not completely released, now has six confirmed games on it. Aside from Clemson and Stetson, the Colonials will have games against Duquesne, Eastern Michigan, Illinois-Chicago and West Virginia this season.
