After one of the best seasons in program history, the Robert Morris softball team got even stronger as they picked up a transfer commitment from the 2024 Horizon League Freshman of the Year.

In fact, the newest member of the Colonials saw this past season come to an end by the hands of her new club when Robert Morris defeated Purdue Fort Wayne in the Horizon League Championship game.

After two stellar seasons as a Mastodon, Purdue Fort Wayne transfer Aglaia Rudd committed to Robert Morris on Thursday and will have two years of eligibility remaining.

Rudd is a catcher/utility player who accumulated a career .319 batting average, seven homers and 43 RBIs over her first two seasons in college.

Rudd won the 2024 Horizon League Freshman of the Year award and earned All-Freshman team honors after posting a .341 batting average, 14 doubles and 27 RBIs. She now joins the 2025 Horizon League Co-Freshman of the Year, Mary Brant, on the Colonials’ roster.

Rudd looked to follow up her award winning season in 2025 but her season was cut short after just 25 games due to a season-ending injury. She finished the season with a .284 batting average but finished strong in some other areas as she hit more homers as a sophomore (4) than during her 41-game breakout freshman season (3).

Additionally, her slugging percentage stayed relatively the same and she was on pace to finish the season with a similar RBI total as her freshman campaign.

Rudd’s decision, or lack thereof, to transfer out of Purdue Fort Wayne came after the university surprisingly announced the discontinuation of both the softball and baseball teams.

With Rudd being a catcher, her arrival to Moon Township comes at the perfect time as last year’s starting catcher, Logan Black, graduated this spring.

Regardless, Rudd’s commitment is a massive win for the Colonials as she now joins an impressive young core that just carried the university to its first ever Horizon League Championship.
