Former Robert Morris Forward Transfers to Horizon League Rival
Robert Morris was on the receiving end of some Horizon-on-Horizon crime last offseason when it scooped up eventual Horizon League Player of the Year DeSean Goode from IU Indy.
Now, the Colonials are on the opposite end of that same sort of deal as former forward Josh Hill is heading off to a league rival.
According to Dushawn London of 247Sports, Hill committed to Oakland on Friday as a late-cycle addition for Greg Kampe and the Golden Grizzlies.
In 22 games with the Colonials this past season, Hill averaged 7.5 points and 4.4 rebounds per game in 17 minutes per game. Hill reached double-digits in 5 games, with his season-high (19 points and 10 rebounds) coming against St. Bonaventure.
The 6-foot-11 forward was often one of the first guys off of the bench for Andy Toole’s squad last season before earning starts in each of his final five games of the season. Hill ended up missing the team’s final 11 games of the season due to an injury.
Prior to his lone season at Robert Morris, Hill spent his freshman season at Arkansas State. While there, Hill averaged 3 points and 1.8 rebounds in 6.6 minutes per game.
The native of Laurel, Maryland was a four-star recruit coming out of Wheeler High School in Georgia in the Class of 2024. He was ranked the third-best player in Georgia and a Top 100 prospect, according to On3Sports.
Hill’s arrival to Oakland gives the Golden Grizzlies a high-upside legnthy forward that can shoot the ball from the perimeter. If Kampe can tap into some of Hill’s potential, he can turn into a key player for the Golden Grizzlies this upcoming season.
Robert Morris will host Hill and the Golden Grizzlies at the UPMC Events Center on January 9th, as well as play at Oakland on February 13th.
