Third Robert Morris Transfer Commits to Power-Conference Program
Robert Morris is quickly becoming a program in which players come to improve their stock and potentially make the jump from the mid-major level to the high-major level as Andy Toole has now developed three players into power-conference level players for a second-straight season.
Forward Nikolaos Chitikoudis was the first Robert Morris player to announce his intentions on transferring this offseason but is now the latest to find a new home as he committed to Xavier for his senior season, the school announced on Friday.
Chitikoudis, who transferred to Robert Morris last offseason, spent his first two years of college at North Carolina A&T. He helped lead the Colonials to a second-consecutive 20-win season and another trip to Indy for the Horizon League semifinal round in his lone season in Moon Township.
The 6-foot-9, 215-pound junior from Greece was a mainstay in the starting lineup for Andy Toole this season as he started 27 of his 32 game appearances and went on to earn All-Horizon Defensive Team honors.
While his defensive game vastly improved as the season went on, Chitikoudis was a solid offensive contributor and a forced on the glass for the Colonials all season long as he averaged 11.3 points per game on 54.7% shooting and finished second on the team with 7.7 rebounds per game. He ended the season with 10 double-doubles.
When the season ended for the Colonials in Indianapolis, everybody in the building knew that some of the guys on the team just played their last game ever under Andy Toole, a new harsh reality for many mid-major programs across the nation as many look to parlay solid seasons into bigger and better opportunities.
Chitikoudis joins former teammates DeSean Goode (Miami) and Ryan Prather Jr. (Iowa State) as players from this past season to make the jump to the power-five level. In total, Robert Morris and Andy Toole have now sent six players to the power-conference level in the past two seasons after Alvaro Folgueiras, Amarion Dickerson and Kam Woods all made the jump last offseason.
