The opening round games in Cleveland will all take place at the Rocket Arena, the home of the Cleveland Cavaliers. Other opening round sites include Seattle, Lexington, Milwaukee, Raleigh, Denver, Providence, and Wichita.
This year’s tournament will be the first appearance for Robert Morris since the 2015 season, albeit it clinched a spot in 2020 NCAA Tournament before it was wiped out due to the pandemic. Robert Morris made it this far after tying the program’s single-season record with 26 wins this season, winning its first ever Horizon League regular-season title and its first ever Horizon League championship.
For head coach Andy Toole, who is in his 15th season as the head man at Bobby Mo, this will be his second actual appearance as a head coach in a NCAA Tournament game after leading the Colonials to a First Four win over North Florida in 2015 before bailing out of the tournament in the Round of 64 after losing to Duke by 29 points.
As for the Colonials’ opposition, this year’s tournament marks the 25th NCAA Tournament appearance for Alabama. The Crimson Tide have made ten Sweet Sixteens, two Elite Eights, and one Final Four in the tournament.
