Robert Morris Earns No. 15 Seed, Will Face Alabama in First Round of NCAA Tournament

MOON TWP, Pa. — Robert Morris held an event at the UPMC Events Center on Sunday afternoon where fans were able to watch the Horizon League champion Colonials get their name called on the Selection Sunday broadcast. The committee granted the Colonials a 15-seed in the NCAA Tournament and they will play No. 2 Alabama in the first round in Cleveland on Friday.
The Colonials clinched their spot in the field after defeating Youngstown St. in the Horizon League Championship on Tuesday night in Indianapolis. This is the first NCAA Tournament appearance for the Colonials since 2015 after their 2020 postseason dreams were wiped out due to the pandemic.
As for the Crimson Tide, they received a two-seed after going 25-8 overall and 13-5 in SEC play. The SEC is regarded as one of, if not the best, conferences in all of college basketball this season. The Tide are coached by Nate Oats and are paced by All-SEC First-Team guard Mark Sears.
