Robert Morris Transfer Guard Plans to Visit Big-12 Program

After making the NCAA Tournament in 2025, Robert Morris lost every scholarship player expect for one either due to graduation or the transfer portal.

Ryan Prather Jr. was that one player that decided to return to play under Andy Toole for a second season and he quickly turned into the team’s leader and a fan-favorite for Bobby Mo this past season before ultimately deciding to enter the portal himself following the season as he looks to play at a higher level for his last year of college basketball.

Since entering the portal, Prather has heard from many high-major programs but just set up his first official visit of the offseason with one of the Big-12’s best teams from recent seasons.

According to Sam Kayser of LeagueRDY, Prather will visit Iowa State over the weekend. Iowa State is coming off of another strong season under head coach T.J. Otzelberger in which the Cyclones went 29-8 and made it to the Sweet 16 round of the NCAA Tournament before losing to Tennessee.

Prather is one of a handful of players traveling to Ames this weekend to visit the program. With his high-major frame and sharpshooting abilities, Prather would likely play a catch-and-shoot role for the Cyclones and be an off-ball playmaker.

Prather spent the 2024-25 season as the team’s sixth man and played a key role in taking the program to its first NCAA Tournament since 2015. He transitioned into a full-time starter this past season and led the team in scoring as he averaged 15.7 points and made 84 three-pointers at a 37% rate.

He was also the team’s most all-around player as he added 3.9 rebounds and 3.6 assists per game with an NCAA-best 4.4 assist to turnover ratio thus earning him All-Horizon Second Team honors.

Prather is among six Robert Morris players that decided to enter the transfer portal this offseason but is the first to confirm a visit to any program. Another player that is likely to receive high-major interest is DeSean Goode, who has been linked to many powerhouse teams in the early portion of the portal process.
