Robert Morris Men’s Basketball Reveals Horizon League Schedule
Believe it or not, the start of the Robert Morris basketball season is almost here. The men’s basketball program, alongside of the Horizon League, announced the Colonials’ complete 20-game conference schedule on Thursday.
The Horizon League made a small tweak to the way that it constructs the league schedule over the offseason after it officially welcomed a 12th member of the conference, Northern Illinois. In years past, the schedule would be 10 home games and 10 road games, featuring a home-and-away with each opposing member of the league.
Now with another program in the fold, the Horizon League decided to keep it as a 20-game schedule, as opposed to a potential 22-game league slate. The Colonials will still play 10 home games and 10 away games, but they will no longer play every team twice in the same season.
Robert Morris opens up Horizon League play on the road at IU Indy on December 2nd before hosting rival Youngstown State at the UPMC Events Center on December 5th. After a two-week break from Horizon League action, the Colonials will then hit the road to play Purdue Fort-Wayne to wrap up the calendar year on December 30th.
Following the new year, the Colonials will open up a three-straight home games with matchups against first-time opponent Northern Illinois on January 3rd, Detroit Mercy on January 6th and Oakland on January 9th.
Robert Morris will then complete its annual trip to the state of Ohio. The Colonials will play against Wright State on January 14th, followed by Cleveland State on January 17th. When Robert Morris faces Wright State, it will be weighted differently in regard to tiebreakers as it is the only scheduled matchup between the two programs this season.
Purdue Fort-Wayne and IU Indy will then both make the annual return trips to Moon Township on January 20th and January 23 respectively before the Colonials play five of their next six games on the road.
Robert Morris opens the road gauntlet up in Wisconsin against Milwaukee on January 27th, followed by Green Bay on January 30th. The Colonials will open February with a home game against Cleveland State on the 4th but then will not be back at the UPMC Events Center for two weeks.
Robert Morris will then head back on the road to wrap up a three-game road trip with contests against Youngstown State on February 8th, Detroit Mercy on February 11th and Oakland on February 13th.
The Colonials’ first and only meeting of the season with Northern Kentucky is a game in Moon Township on February 18th. Like the Wright State game, the Northern Kentucky matchup will crucial in regard to the standings.
Robert Morris then wraps up the regular season with a road game against Northern Illinois on February 21st, followed with back-to back home games against Milwaukee on February 24th and Green Bay on February 27th.
Robert Morris’ non-conference schedule has yet to be released, though some games have been confirmed including the season opener at Nevada on November 2nd.
