MOON TWP, Pa. — The Robert Morris men’s basketball program enjoyed a season full of success but are now facing the ramifications of being a good mid-major team. After losing their star front court duo of Amarion Dickerson and Alvaro Folgueiras, along with talented guard Justice Williams to the transfer portal, another talented player has entered the portal.

Redshirt freshman forward Antallah Sandlin’El entered the portal on Tuesday, marking the fourth player to enter the portal since the Colonials’ season came to an end in the opening-round of the NCAA Tournament.

The decision to hop in the portal comes as a shock for most as the only other returning forward is Maurio Hanson Jr., who played in just four games as a true freshman this past season.

The 6-foot-8, 205-pound Sandlin’El appeared in just nine games for the Colonials this past season and averaged 4.4 points and 2.o rebounds per game. He played just 76 minutes over the course of the season but in his short time on the floor, he showed that he could be an efficient scorer as he shot over 46% from the field.

After he sat out the 2023-24 season on a redshirt, he played sparingly for the Colonials during their Horizon League Championship run with most of his playing time coming in the early portion of the season.

Sandlin’El showcased his potential during a three-game span in late November. Due to his outburst, he earned Horizon League Rookie of the Week after posting career-highs of 14 points and seven rebounds in 19 minutes in the Colonials’ victory at Cornell.

He followed that performance up by scoring 14 points again against Ohio just two games later. In those two games, Sandlin’El went 11-of-18 from the field.

Sandlin’El, a native of Lincoln, Nebraska, chose Robert Morris out of high school after being selected to the Nebraska Coaches Association All-State Boys Super State team. During his senior season at Lincoln North Star, Sandlin’El averaged 17.4 points and 9.1 rebounds per game.

Sandlin’El is now the fourth player off of Robert Morris’ championship roster to enter the transfer portal and may not be the last. The Colonials now have eight scholarship players for the 2025-26 season which include two incoming freshman.
