Robert Morris forward Amarion Dickerson dunks against Alabama in the NCAA Tournament -- RMU Athletics

MOON TWP, Pa. — Three days after nearly shocking the world in the NCAA Tournament, the Robert Morris men’s basketball program suffered its first transfer portal causality of the offseason. The catalyst of the near upset of 2-seeded Alabama, junior forward Amarion Dickerson, has entered the transfer portal, according to Jacey Zembal of Rivals.

Dickerson enjoyed a historic and storied first season at Robert Morris and now looks to parlay it into a bigger and better opportunity. Dickerson averaged 13.3 points, 5.9 rebounds, and 2.3 blocks per game and broke Robert Morris’ single-game block record twice this season.

He earned the Horizon League Defensive Player of the Year Award, All-Horizon Second-Team honors and All-Horizon Defensive Team honors while helping the Colonials win their first even Horizon League regular-season title and first ever Horizon League Championship.

Dickerson just wrapped up his first season of playing basketball at the Division-I level. He spent his first two seasons of college ball at Mineral Area College, a JUCO program located in Missouri, before landing at Robert Morris last offseason.

The 6-foot-7 Cleveland native just put a show on in his hometown and on national stage when the Colonials took on Alabama in the opening-round of the NCAA Tournament. Dickerson led all scorers with 25 points on an efficient 11-of-22 shooting spread while hauling in nine rebounds, six of which were offensive.

Robert Morris head coach Andy Toole called this year’s Colonials team the “greatest” team in the history of the program following the 90-81 loss to Alabama in the NCAA Tournament.

With the success that the Colonials’ players and team had this season, as they won 26 games and went dancing, it should not be a surprise that the program is experiencing some turnover due to the portal.
