Another college athlete, and former Robert Morris men’s basketball player, was identified as a person of interest in the NCAA’s extensive investigation into the ongoing gambling scandal.

This comes after multiple other current and former players, mainly from the mid-major levels, were also named as people of interest in the NCAA’s investigation.

The latest player to be identified was Justice Williams, who recently transferred to Western Michigan after a two-year stint at Robert Morris.

Williams was a key piece on the Colonials’ 2023-24 roster, when he averaged averaged 12.3 points, 3.0 rebounds and 2.5 assists, but missed the entire Horizon League Championship winning season in 2024-25 due to an apparent leg injury.

“RMU has been made aware by the NCAA of an investigation involving Justice Williams, a former member of our men’s basketball program, for actions that may have occurred during his enrollment at RMU,” the school said in a statement to Robert Morris Sports Now on Friday.RMU has been and will continue to cooperate fully with the NCAA and all relevant authorities in this matter. As this is an on going investigation, we will not offer further comment at this time.”

Since the NCAA investigation is separate from the ongoing federal investigation into same matter, it is currently unclear whether Williams is also a person of interest in that case.

In a statement released by Sports Illustrated, Western Michigan announced that the former Robert Morris guard is being withheld from all basketball competition “pending the result of a NCAA investigation of events that precede his enrollment.”

Two other student-athletes from separate universities, Eastern Kentucky guard Amarr Knox and Dayton guard Adam Njie, were also named in the probe within the last week. All three are currently being withheld from basketball competition.

This news comes just days before the programs across the nation tip off the new college basketball season.
