Following her first year on the job that ended in a trip to Indianapolis for a Horizon League semifinal appearance, Robert Morris head coach Chandler McCabe was forced to completely rebuild her roster from scratch.

Now that her second season at the helm of the Colonials is concluded, McCabe hoped to not have to completely reload again but with two intriguing freshman already out of the door, on top of all of the graduates, it is looking to be another busy offseason for her and the rest of the staff.

Freshman forward Layke Fields and guard Dania McClain announced their intentions of entering the transfer portal on Wednesday morning.

Each will have three years of eligibility remaining after seeing sporadic action during their lone seasons with the Colonials.

Fields saw action in 27 games and averaged 10.3 minutes in those contests. She scored a career-high 24 points against Mercyhurst and earned the Horizon League Freshman of the Week award following that performance.

She also posted a 16-point, 10-rebound double-double during non-conference play but once the Horizon League schedule started, she saw her minutes diminish some and played just 14 minutes over her final three appearances.

Fields, a former Kennedy Catholic standout, was one of the first high school recruits to be brought in following the university’s change in coaches as she committed to Robert Morris less than two weeks after the university hired McCabe in May of 2024.

McClain hails from Michigan and also was apart of McCabe’s first high school recruiting class, one of three that came from out of state.

She appeared in just 18 games this season for the Colonials and averaged 2.2 points and 1.4 rebounds per game. McClain’s biggest impact of the season also came against Point Park as he played 22 minutes, scored a career-high 17 points and recorded a double-double.
