Both of the Robert Morris men’s and women’s lacrosse teams advanced to the championship games of their respective conference tournaments after thrilling wins on Thursday afternoon.

The women’s team led Detroit Mercy throughout the MAC semifinal matchup and eventually closed out the tight 13-9 victory to advance to Saturday’s championship game while the men’s team used a bit more dramatics to win their NEC semifinal game against Long Island.

The Colonials led the Sharks for a majority of the game before LIU took an 11-10 lead late in the fourth quarter. As time winded down on the Colonials’ hopes, Bobby Reaume fired a last-second shot toward the net and managed to sneak it past the Sharks’ goaltender with 0.1 seconds left on the clock.

Robert Morris went on to score the game-winning goal just 14 seconds into overtime after the NEC Player of the Year Bo Columbus won the opening face-off and fed it to the NEC First-Teamer Calum Brennan who scored his eighth goal of the game to send the Colonials home as winners.

The women’s team awaits to host the winner of No. 2-seed Eastern Michigan and No. 3-seed Akron at Joe Walton Stadium on Saturday while the men’s team will take on the winner of top-seeded Le Moyne and No. 4-seed Detroit Mercy in Saturday’s championship game in New York.

The men’s team is looking to win its third NEC title after going back-to-back in 2018 and 2019 while the women’s programs looks to win its second MAC title after claiming gold in 2021. The men’s team most recently won the ASUN conference tournament in 2022 before re-joining the NEC prior to this season.
