Robert Morris Lacrosse Earns Multiple All-Conference Accolades

The Robert Morris men’s lacrosse team officially clinched the No. 2 seed in the NEC Tournament that begins on Thursday. The other participating programs include top-seed Le Moyne, No. 3-seed Long Island and No. 4-seed Detroit Mercy.
Robert Morris will take on Long Island in the opening round of the tournament. The Colonials beat the Sharks by the score of 13-9 in early April.
So, what fueled the Colonials’ stellar season? The answer to that is the all-conference level play that the team received from a multitude of key players this season.
While the Colonials placed nine players on the NEC All-Conference teams, Robert Morris walked away with two of the biggest accolades as face-off specialist Bo Columbus took home the NEC Player of the Year Award and attacker David Burr won the NEC Offensive Player of the Year Award.

Columbus finished the regular season ranked fifth in all of Division-I with a .636 face-off percentage. Additionally, his 7.79 ground balls per game was good for seventh in the nation. Columbus is the fifth Colonials’ player to win the NEC Player of the Year Award.
As for Burr, he tallied 28 goals and a team-high 51 points. He averaged 1.67 assists per game which was good for second in the conference and 37th nationally. Burr is the second Colonial to ever win the NEC Offensive Player of the Year Award.
Robert Morris placed six players on the NEC First-Team All-Conference team as Calum Brennan, Elijah Edwards, Gavin Pedone and Owen Tapper joined Columbus and Burr on the list.
The Colonials also placed Nate Fechter, Kean Moon and Nick Pelletier on the NEC Second-Team All-Conference squad. Lastly, Luke Prezioso was named to the conference’s All-Rookie Team.
Robert Morris has won the NEC Championship twice before as they went back-to-back in 2018 and 2019. The Colonials departed the NEC following the 2020 season for the ASUN, where they won that conference tournament once before returning to the NEC as a lacrosse member this season.
When the Colonials take on Long Island on Thursday, they will continue the quest for the program’s third ever NEC Championship.
