Robert Morris Loses Starting Guard to Transfer Portal

MOON TWP, Pa. — Less than a week after nearly shocking the world in the NCAA Tournament, the Robert Morris men’s basketball program suffered a mass exodus as players entered the transfer portal in seek of better opportunities.
After losing starting front court duo and award winners, Alvaro Folgueiras and Amarion Dickerson, the Colonials witnessed a third starter from the Horizon League Championship squad hit the portal as guard Josh Omojafo entered on Thursday morning.
Omojafo enjoyed a solid first season at Robert Morris after transferring from Division-II Gannon in May of 2024. While he was often the overlooked player among the starting core, Omojafo averaged a solid 11.4 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 1.4 assists per game.
Surrounded by the Horizon League Player of the Year Folgueiras, the Defensive Player of the Year Dickerson, second-team All-Horizon point guard Kam Woods and three-point specialist D.J. Smith, Omojafo played almost as an undersized forward at the three but still managed to create a lot of buckets for himself due to his ability to slash and get to the bucket.
Omojafo had efficient shooting splits during his first seaso of Division-I basketball. He shot 44.3% from the field, 38.4% from three-point range and 81.4% from the free-throw line.
This past season, Omojafo scored his 1,000th career collegiate point in a non-conference matchup with Canisus. His game really came on near the end of the season and was a driving force in the Colonials winning the Horizon League Championship. Omojafo hauled in a career-high 13 rebounds in the Championship game and was named to the All-Tournament team afterwards.
The 6-foot-5 Ontario native spent his first two collegiate seasons at Gannon which is located Erie, Pennsylvania. He helped turn that program around as he led Gannon in scoring, averaging 20 points per game. He led Gannon’s turnaround season in 2023 as the program went from three wins the year before to 32 wins.
Robert Morris head coach Andy Toole called this year’s Colonials team the “greatest” team in the history of the program following the 90-81 loss to Alabama in the NCAA Tournament.
Now with over half of his starting lineup, Andy Toole surely has his work cut out for him this offseason. He and his staff have already begun their search for the new wave of talent and connected with multiple transfer portal players within the first week of it being open.
