Robert Morris Loses Player of the Year to Portal for Second-Straight Year
For the second-straight season, Robert Morris is losing the Horizon League Player of the Year winner to the transfer portal as forward DeSean Goode announced his intentions of entering the portal to Joe Tipton of On3 Sports.
Goode joins fellow starting forward Nikolaos Chitikoudis as the program’s first two transfer portal departures of the offseason.
Goode transferred to Robert Morris prior to this past season after spending his first year of college at IU Indy, a Horizon League foe of the Colonials.
Goode parlayed a All-Horizon Freshman Team season into a All-Horizon First Team and Player of the Year sophomore season under Andy Toole at Robert Morris as he averaged 15.2 points and 8.7 rebounds while shooting 63% from the field and 57% from three.
In his Player of the Year campaign, Goode led Robert Morris and the Horizon League in double-doubles as he posted 12 during his lone season with the Colonials.
Goode displayed a power-conference level of play this season at Robert Morris as he was an automatic bucket from inside of the pain, shot the three at a high level despite a smaller volume and dribbled well for a 6-foot-8, 230-pound forward.
Despite his success as a frontcourt player this season, Goode will likely play more of a wing role at a higher level so all three of the things that he excelled at during his time with the Colonials should translate well at his next school despite a potential role change.
With key starters such as Albert Vargas and Kaleb Brown out of eligibility, and Chitikoudis also in the portal, that leaves just one starter from this year’s team and with the likely chance that he also tests the portal waters this offseason, the staff at Robert Morris will need to fully rebuild the roster again this offseason.
