Who does not love late cycle transfer portal additions?

News of Robert Morris landing a 7-foot-1 transfer forward hit the feed on Wednesday and it came as a surprise to most as it was widely believed that the 2025-26 men’s basketball roster was already finalized.

Well, when you can add a seven-footer that has starting experience and more importantly, NCAA Tournament experience, you do not hesitate which Colonials’ head coach Andy Toole did not.

Former Alabama State forward/center Ubong Okon signed with Robert Morris on Wednesday, according to the RMU Men’s Basketball account.

Okon is coming off season where he helped Alabama State reach its first NCAA Tournament since 2011. Okon and the Hornets managed to win the program’s first ever NCAA Tournament game in 2025 when they defeated Saint Francis (PA) in the First Four.

Alabama State went on to lose to No. 1-seed Auburn in the Round of 64.

Okon started 21 games for the Hornets this past season and averaged 1.9 points and 3.8 rebounds per game which was down from his first year at Alabama State. During the 2023-24 season, the Nigerian native once again started 21 games and averaged 3.3 points and 6.1 rebounds per contest.

Okon joins DeSean Goode, Nikos Chitikoudis, Josh Hill and Samuel Obenjo in the forwards room. He is not expected to push for a starting spot next season but can provide quality size and depth off of the bench.

Regardless, now that Toole can rely on a four-man forward rotation who all have college experience should go a long way for the Colonials as the guards are expected to carry the scoring load for Robert Morris next season.
