The Robert Morris men's basketball team has added D.J. Smith a transfer from Bowling Green as a guard who will wear No. 11 for the Colonials.

The Robert Morris men’s basketball team has a new player, according to its roster.

D.J. Smith, a transfer from Bowling Green, is now listed as a guard who will wear No. 11 for the Colonials.

Smith, a Little Rock, Arkansas native, began his collegiate basketball career at Arkansas-Little Rock, a D1 program. There, he averaged six points per game as a freshman, starting 21 games and appearing in 27. Then, as a sophomore, Smith started 31 games, averaging over 30 minutes per contest.

He exploded that season and averaged 10.3 points, 2.6 rebounds, and 2.8 assists per game. Smith shot 40% from the field and 30% from three-point range that sophomore season.

He then transferred to Bowling Green, where last year, he appeared in just eight games for the Falcons. He scored just four points per game while playing 14.4 minutes per contest. He played in his final game for the Falcons on Dec. 2 before missing the rest of the season due to injury.

Smith joins Justice Williams and NC State transfer Kam Woods in the Colonials’ back court. Robert Morris head coach Andy Toole also brought in transfers Ismael Plet, Josh Omojafo, and Amarion Dickerson along with Smith.

Robert Morris finished last season 10-22 overall (6-14 Horizon). The Colonials are heading into year 15 of the Andy Toole era, and year five in the Horizon League after switching conferences from the Northeast Conference. The program has had four-straight losing seasons and has only had two seasons with a winning percentage greater than .500 since 2015. Robert Morris last made the NCAA Tournament in the 2014-15 season.
