Former Duquesne, Robert Morris Hoopers Sign Pro Deals
Once a collegiate career comes to a close, there’s always some uncertainty for those that are aiming to further their playing careers.
A former Duquesne guard and pair of Robert Morris men’s basketball forwards will extend their playing careers after signing new pro deals in the past week.
Brewer Signs Deal in Europe
Tevin Brewer, a former Duquesne grad senior guard, has signed a contract with Kipinä Äänekoski of the 1st Division A League in Finland.

Brewer spent one season with the Dukes in 2022-23, where he appeared in 29 games, starting 26 of them. He averaged 7.5 points, 1.6 rebounds and 3.2 assists per game. He scored on 40.7 percent (81-for-199) of his attempts from the field, including 44 percent (44-for-100) from 3-point range.
The Fork Smith, Ark. native joined the Dukes after transferring in from FIU. He helped the Dukes go 20-13, earning a bid into the 2023 College Basketball Invitational (CBI).
In the Atlantic 10, Brewer led the conference in 3-point field goal percentage and assist-to-turnover ration (2.82) during the 2022-23 season.
Brewer joins recent Duquesne graduate Tre Williams to sign pro deals. Williams singed a deal with QSTA United of the BNXT League in the Netherlands.
Hastings, Spear Find New Homes
Arguably one of the top Robert Morris players in recent years, Kahliel Spear has found his second home since completing his collegiate career with the Colonials. His latest move sees him sign with Valmiera Glass Via, a basketball club in Valmiera, Latvia. The club competes in the Latvian-Estonian Basketball League, the highest level of professional men’s basketball in Latvia and Estonia.
Spear spent last season playing for Horsens IC, who competes in the Basketligaen, the top professional league in Denmark. In 22.7 minutes per contest with Horsens, Spear was second on the team in scoring, averaging 14.6 points, while adding 5.3 rebounds per game. He shot 55.8 (80-for-144) percent from the field.
In three seasons with the Colonials, Spear averaged 14 points per game and 7.4 rebounds per night. He posted career highs during his final season in 2022-23, scoring 15.5 points and recording 8.3 rebounds per game on the way to a Horizon League Second Team selection.
A more recent Colonial, Markeese Hastings has also inked a professional deal, his with Bnei Kfar Qasem in Israel’s National League.
Hastings joined the Colonials as a grad transfer from Western Michigan for the 2023-24 season. In his final collegiate season, he earned Horizon League Third Team honors after pacing the Colonials in scoring (14.4), rebounds per game (7.8) and field-goals made (170). He shot 51.5 percent (170-for-330) from the floor.
