Chitikoudis, Goode Post Double-Doubles as Robert Morris Defeats Pitt-Greensburg
MOON TWP, Pa. — The early portion of the college basketball season is always a rollercoaster ride for teams, especially at the mid-major level, which has been the case for Andy Toole and his Robert Morris squad.
While the Colonials find themselves with a 3-1 record after taking down Pitt-Greensburg by the score of 81-57 on Thursday night, the process to the this point has been anything but smooth or seamless.

That was the case again in the win over Pitt-Greensburg as Robert Morris found itself ahead by just six at the halftime intermission before ultimately pulling away in the second half en route to a 24-point win.
Aside from using their added size and physicality to their advantage in the second half, the Colonials dominated on the glass as they out-rebounded the Bobcats 55-22.
For context, the Colonials grabbed 22 offensive rebounds while the Bobcats only managed 22 rebounds in total.
Double-doubles from forwards Nikolaos Chitikoudis and DeSean Goode helped minimize the impact of an overall poor shooting night by the Colonials, especially from behind-the-arc as they shot a combined 3-of-19 from that range.
Chitikoudis posted a game-high 19 points and added 10 rebounds while Goode scored 13 points but hauled in a game-high 12 rebounds. Ryan Prather Jr. and Darius Livingston each finished the night with 10 points each.
Chitikoudis started the game a perfect 6-of-6 before ultimately ended the night 9-for-11 from the field as he posted his second double-double of the season.

After a missed shot by Robert Morris and a shot-clock violation on Pitt-Greensburg, the Colonials jumped out ahead 6-0 after two-straight buckets by Chitikoudis in the paint and another by Josh Hill shortly after.
The Bobcats answered with their own 12-5 run over the next few minutes which put them ahead of the Colonials by one at the under-12 media timeout.
The Colonials responded following the stoppage in play as they fed Chitikoudis for another inside bucket before Ta’Zir Smith extended the lead to three on his first basket of the game. After a tip-in from Prather Jr. made the score 17-13 in favor of the Colonials, the Bobcats opened up another 6-0 which put them back ahead, 19-17.
The Colonials tried to re-claim the lead on a three by Prather but it rimmed out. Fortunately for the Colonials, Chitikoudis grabbed the offensive rebound and laid it in to tie the game at 19 a piece. That play helped the Colonials open up a 8-0 run prior to the last media break of the half.

The two teams would match each other over the final four or so minutes as each team scored 10 more points each which kept the Colonials’ lead at six as the teams entered halftime with the score of 35-29.
Pitt-Greensburg opened the second half with a three to cut the Robert Morris advantage to just three but the Colonials answered with a 6-0 run to claim a nine-point lead, their biggest of the night to that point.
That 6-0 run eventually turned into a 15-3 overall run for the Colonials, who led by the score of 50-35 at the 15:18 mark of the second half.

The Colonials extended their advantage to 20 points just before the under-12 stoppage of the second half before the Bobcats threw last one punch after the under-eight break, as they went on a 5-0 run, but still found themselves by 19 points with the Colonials ahead 69-50.
The Colonials pushed their lead back over the 20-point plateau just seconds later and even led by as many as 27 following one last run, a 8-0 run capped off by a Livingston three. The triple put the Colonials up by the score of 77-50 at the 3:33 mark which allowed Toole to turn to his bench for the remaining couple of minutes.
After hosting two-straight Division-III opponents, Robert Morris will get back into its tough non-conference schedule against Division-I foes with a road trip to St. Bonaventure next Thursday on the horizon.
