After starting the season 2-4 in conference and considering they’ve never had a season above .500 in the Horizon League, Robert Morris appeared to be on their way to another long men’s basketball season.

But as they say, that’s why they play the game.

Since that 2-4 start, Andy Toole’s team has gone 12-1, including this afternoon’s 72-59 win over Milwaukee.

That coupled with Oakland’s upset overtime win over Cleveland State gives the Colonials an opportunity to do something they’ve never done before- win the Horizon League regular season championship.

If Robert Morris can defeat IU Indy (9-19) on Thursday, they’ll be champions and be the No. 1 seed in the upcoming Horizon League Tournament.

In their first matchup on January 30, Robert Morris defeated IU Indy, 106-53.

Today’s win also means that Robert Morris will host a quarterfinal game at the UPMC Events Center on Thursday, March 6th.

All quarterfinal games will be held at the home courts of the higher seeded teams. The semifinal games will then be played at the Corteva Coliseum in Indianapolis.

Semifinal games begin on Monday, March 10th with the Horizon League Championship game played on Tuesday, March 11th at Indiana Farmers Coliseum in Indianapolis.
