Robert Morris wrapped up its most successful regular season since joining the Horizon League as it beat IU Indy to claim win No. 23 on the year and at least a share of the regular season conference title.

While those accomplishments shine the brightest following the win, the Colonials suffered a huge loss in the game as forward Alvaro Folgueiras left with an apparent leg injury and never returned.

While Folgueiras did not return to Thursday’s game against the Jaguars, his head coach, Andy Toole, gave a positive update on his condition following the conclusion of the game.

“He’ll be fine,” Toole told Alan Saunders of Pittsburgh Sports Now after the game. “He just didn’t feel like he could really like explode, not that he is the most explosive guy.”

Folgueiras left the game at the 16:22 mark of the second half after he came down awkwardly following a blocked shot on IU Indy’s Keenan Garner. As he hit the floor, Folgueiras immediately grabbed towards his ankle and was worked on by trainers before exiting the court which was a blow for the Colonials as he racked up 14 points, five rebounds and three assists over the first 24 minutes of the game.

Folgueiras is a top player for the Colonials this year as he averages 14.3 points, 9.3 rebounds and 3 assists in 29.4 minutes per game. The 6-10 sophomore has had a fantastic year and is in discussions for Horizon League Player of the Year.

The Colonials have a guaranteed week off before the next time that they will play which will be a home quarterfinal game at the UPMC Events Center on March 6.

With the toughness that Folgueiras displayed all season coupled with his coaches vote of confidence following Thursday’s game, it should not be shocking to see the Spaniard back on the court for the Colonials’ home playoff game next week.
