Robert Morris Beats IU Indy, Clinches Share of Regular Season Title

INDIANAPOLIS — Robert Morris overcame a slow start, foul trouble and an injury to the team’s best player, with reserve guard Josh Omojafo leading the way with a season-high 19 points to help the Colonials to a 82-68 victory over IU Indy at The Jungle on Thursday, clinching at least a share of the Horizon League regular-season title.
With the win, the Colonials clinched at least a share of the 2024-25 Horizon League regular season title, the 12th conference regular season title in program history and their first in the Horizon League since joining that league in 2020. RMU last won its conference regular season in the Northeast Conference in 2014.

Robert Morris will need help to earn an outright title and the No. 1 seed in the Horizon League tournament. They can do so with three difference tie breaking scenarios.
Robert Morris (23-8, 15-5 in Horizon League) couldn’t pull away from IU Indy (9-21, 5-14) in a back-and-forth first half, never leading by more than six points over the first 20 minutes, which ended with RMU ahead by three.
Foul trouble impacted the Robert Morris frontcourt from the early part of the game. Forward Amarion Dickerson earned three first-half fouls and center Alvaro Folgueiras added two more.
Then, early in the second half, their frontcourt depth troubles got worse. With 16:23 to play, Folgueiras made a diving block of a shot by IU Indy guard Keenan Garner. He immediately grabbed his right shin and had to be helped off the court.
While the RMU bigs were dropping like flies, Omojafo started dropping shots. The transfer from Gannon had seven points at the half, but was a big part of an early second-half Robert Morris push, as the Colonials turned the three-point halftime deficit into a 16-point advantage before the midway point of the second half.
Omojafo finished with 27 points against the Jaguars, shooting 10 of 12 from the floor and 4 of 6 from 3-point range. The junior from Hamilton, Ontario transferred to RMU this summer after spending two seasons at Division II Gannon. Omojafo had 17 points against Lindenwood on Nov. 15. His career high was 32 points for Gannon against West Chester on Dec. 19, 2023.
Guard Kam Woods continued his hot stretch to close the regular season. He finished with 21 points on 8 of 16 shooting and added 11 rebounds for his third straight double-double.
Folgueiras, the team’s leading scorer and rebounder, did not return after getting his right ankle taped by the team’s athletic trainer. His status going forward into the Horizon League tournament will be of major concern for the Colonials. RMU has already clinched a bye in the first round of the tournament.
The next game for Robert Morris will be at home at UPMC Events Center on Thursday, March 6 in the Horizon League quarterfinals. If RMU wins that game, they’ll return to Indianapolis for the Horizon League semifinals and finals at Corteva Coliseum on March 10 and 11.
