For the second consecutive season, the Robert Morris men’s basketball program is getting hot at the right time of the season.

Last season, RMU finished the season with 26 wins after winning the Horizon Conference tournament and advancing to the NCAA tournament for the first time since 2014-15.

Andy Toole’s team finished the 2025-26 regular season on Saturday with an 83-64 win over Cleveland State. With the win, RMU improved their record to 21-10 and clinched the No. 2 seed in the upcoming Horizon Tournament

Their road to making a return trip to March Madness will start on Wednesday night when they host Youngstown State (15-16/8-12) at 7 PM. The Colonials won their two regular season games this season against the Penguins, but it wasn’t easy. In the first game, RMU won 80-77, which was followed by a 72-66 win on February 7th.

That win last month was part of a perfect month of February for Robert Morris as they were only 1 of 11 D-1 teams to go unbeaten in February.

That’s a very impressive feat, which accounts for their placement in the current Ken Pom ratings. For a program like Robert Morris, it’s not easy to have a high standing in these ratings, which makes where RMU current sits even more impressive.

As of Sunday morning, Robert Morris sits at No. 144 but look at some of the bigger national programs that they’re ahead of.

KEN POM RATINGS
(as of March 1st)

144) Robert Morris 1.61
149) St. Bonaventure
150) Valparaiso
151) Rutgers
160) Kent State
161) Boston College
166) Georgia Tech
169) Temple
183) Oregon State
191) Tulane
196) Buffalo
198) Marshall
205) UMass
212) Missouri State
218) Indiana State
229) LaSalle
236) Eastern Michigan

Something to consider is, considering what they did last season, and even if they don’t win the Horizon Championship but can make it to the championship game, with this rating, could Robert Morris receive an invite to another one of the postseason tournaments?
