Former Robert Morris DB Receives Invite to NFL Rookie Mini-Camp

Robert Morris did not see any of their players drafted in the 2025 NFL Draft but one player is still headed to the next level to try to compete for a roster spot.
Following the draft, the Baltimore Ravens invited former Colonials’ defensive back Rob Carter Jr. to the team’s rookie mini-camp.

Carter played his final two collegiate seasons at Robert Morris where he even went viral for his ridiculous interception against Utah State in the Colonials’ 2024 season opener. Carter amassed 66 tackles, eight tackles for loss, two sacks and five interceptions  across 22 games.
He hauled in four of his five interceptions as a senior and even started to play on the offensive side of the ball by the end of the season as he made two catches for 12 yards. Additionally, Carter excelled as a kick returner and even scored a kick return touchdown against Central Connecticut State this past season.
Prior to his time at Robert Morris, Carter attended the University of Virginia at Wise, where he played in 22 games and recorded 77 tackles while starring on special teams.
Despite Carter not being drafted, his success is rare for a Robert Morris player as only one alum in program history was ever drafted to the NFL. The Oakland Raiders selected running back Tim Hall with the 183rd pick of the 1996 NFL Draft.
Unfortunately, Hall’s NFL career and life were cut short due to gun violence as he was shot to death in 1998.
Not only that, just three Colonials’ have ever played in a NFL regular season game. In addition to Hall, offensive lineman Hank Fraley made a career in the NFL as he played for 10 seasons and started 123 games while defensive back Robb Butler played in five games for the Chargers in 2004.
Recently, defensive back Marcelis Branch signed with the Atlanta Falcons as an undrafted free agent following the 2017 draft but he never played a regular season snap in the NFL.
While it is still a long shot for Carter to make the Ravens’ final roster, it is a positive for the Robert Morris football program as it is starting to get its players chances at the next level again.
