Robert Morris (18-12) saw its 2025-26 season come to a screeching halt after the Colonials fell apart during the second half of their 73-43 Horizon League Tournament loss to Purdue Fort-Wayne (19-12) on Wednesday.

Despite the season coming to an abrupt end before the Colonials could even punch a ticket back to Indianapolis, the direction of the program still moved upwards under the leadership of second-year head coach Chandler McCabe.

The 2024-25 team managed to make it all the way to the Horizon League semifinals but they did so in a season in which they won just 15 of their 31 games.

This season, while they did not advance as far in the league tournament, the team finished with an 18-12 record which included 11 league victories. Both marks are improvements from last year and both are the most in a season since the 2019-2020 season.

Robert Morris started the action off with two quick layups from Bailey Kuhns that gave the Colonials a 4-0 lead before Purdue Fort-Wayne used a long 9-0 run later in the quarter to take a 11-6 advantage after the first seven minutes.

The Colonials closed the quarter with a layup from Miriam Traore and a pair of free throws from Eva Levingston but still found themselves down 13-10 after the first frame.

Aislin Malcolm opened the second quarter with a three but the Mastodons one-upped the Colonials with back-to-back shots shortly after which kept them ahead by four until a 5-0 run cut the Robert Morris deficit down to just one at 21-20 midway through the second quarter.

The Colonials managed to eventually tie the game up at 26-26 nearly three minutes later on a three-pointer from Traore but that was the closest that they would get as the Mastodons closed the half out on a 7-2 run to take a 33-29 lead into halftime thanks to some poor shooting from McCabe’s squad.

Things went from manageable to treacherous for Robert Morris in the second half as Purdue Fort-Wayne outscored the Colonials 40-14 over the final two quarters. The Colonials made just 13 total shots in the entire game as they went 13-of-46 from the field and 3-of-16 from three-point range.

With the 2025-26 season now in the rearview mirror, McCabe and her staff at Robert Morris will now turn their attention towards the offseason where they will need to replace at least four key players that are graduating and countless others that decide to enter the transfer portal.
