MOON TWP, Pa. — Robert Morris, in conjunction with the Northeast Conference, announced the Colonials’ 2026 football schedule on Monday. The 2026 season will mark the third season back in the NEC for the Robert Morris football program after initially leaving the conference in 2019.

After going 4-2 in conference play and 7-5 overall while finishing in third place during their first year back in the NEC, the Colonials ran into injury problems in 2025 which derailed the season before the team could build any real momentum which led to a lackluster 3-9 season.

Head coach Bernard Clark Jr. will try to get the program back on track in 2026 and is set to face an intriguing group of non-conference opponents in addition to its seven Northeast Conference games, including one to start the season off.

Robert Morris and Wagner are set to kick off conference play on Aug, 29. as the rest of the NEC does not start playing against each other until later in the season.

The Colonials open up their home schedule the following weekend when they host Division-II opponent West Virginia State in what will be the first ever meeting between the two schools.

Following the home opener, the Colonials hit the road for matchups against two FBS opponents within a three week span.

After playing a Big-12 opponent last season, Robert Morris will have games against two MAC schools with the first coming against Akron on Sept. 12 followed by a trip to the University of Buffalo on Sept. 26. It will be the first time in program history that the Colonials have played Akron and the second time in program history that they have met up with Buffalo.

The Colonials bye week comes early for a second-straight season as they will have the week off in between their two MAC showdowns.

The schedule revealed that Robert Morris will host Norfolk State on Oct. 3 at Joe Walton Stadium for homecoming which is probably the most intriguing non-conference opponent on the slate as the Spartans are coached by former NFL quarterback Mike Vick.

The Colonials wrap up non-conference play on Oct. 10 on the road against Morgan State. The Colonials and the Bears have faced off two other times, 2011 and 2013, with each program winning at home.

After Robert Morris completes its non-conference schedule, the Colonials return back to Moon Township for two-straight weekends of Northeast Conference play as they will host conference newcomer New Haven on Oct. 17 and Keystone State foe Mercyhurst on Oct. 24.

The Colonials will then hit the road for its last two remaining road games of the 2026 season against two of the strongest Northeast Conference programs.

On Halloween day, the Colonials will face off against Central Connecticut State, who has won the NEC in back-to-back seasons, before they return to Pittsburgh to take on crosstown rival Duquesne at Rooney Field on the first weekend in November.

Robert Morris wraps up its 2026 season with consecutive home games against Stonehill on Nov. 14 and Long Island on Nov. 21.
