Robert Morris Transfer Guard Commits to Big-12 Program

Robert Morris saw six of its players enter the transfer portal following the conclusion of the season and one of them now has a new home.

Ryan Prather Jr., the Colonials leading scorer from this past season, visited Iowa State over the weekend and capped his trip off with a commitment to the annual Big-12 contender, he announced on Sunday.

Iowa State is coming off of another strong season under head coach T.J. Otzelberger in which the Cyclones went 29-8 and made it to the Sweet 16 round of the NCAA Tournament before losing to Tennessee.

Prather was one of five players that visited Ames over the weekend and all five have now committed to the program.

With his high-major frame and sharpshooting abilities, Prather will likely play a catch-and-shoot role for the Cyclones and be an off-ball playmaker.

Prather spent the 2024-25 season as the team’s sixth man and played a key role in taking the program to its first NCAA Tournament since 2015. He transitioned into a full-time starter this past season and led the team in scoring as he averaged 15.7 points and made 84 three-pointers at a 37% rate.

He was also the team’s most all-around player as he added 3.9 rebounds and 3.6 assists per game with an NCAA-best 4.4 assist to turnover ratio thus earning him All-Horizon Second Team honors.

Prather was among six Robert Morris players that decided to enter the transfer portal this offseason but is now the first to commit to a new program.
