The transfer portal officially opened up for business on Tuesday morning and one familiar face is expected to test the waters for a second-straight season.

Following one season at Robert Morris and then another at the University of Southern California, Amarion Dickerson announced his intentions of entering the portal as he seeks a new opportunity for his last collegiate season.

Dickerson played in the first eight games of the Trojans’ season and recorded one start while helping them win the Maui Invitational before a hip injury sidelined him for the remainder of the season.

In his brief stint in sunny SoCal, Dickerson averaged 4.6 points and 3.4 rebounds per game.

Two seasons ago while at Robert Morris, Dickerson enjoyed a dominate and storied 2024-25 season at Robert Morris, his first season at the Division-I level, where he averaged 13.3 points, 5.9 rebounds, and 2.3 blocks per game and broke the school’s single-game block record twice.

He earned the Horizon League Defensive Player of the Year Award, All-Horizon Second-Team honors and All-Horizon Defensive Team honors while helping the Colonials win their first Horizon League regular-season title and first ever Horizon League Championship.

The 6-foot-7 Cleveland native then put on a show in front of a hometown crowd on national stage when the Colonials took on Alabama in the opening-round of the 2025 NCAA Tournament. Dickerson led all scorers with 25 points on an efficient 11-of-22 shooting spread while hauling in nine rebounds, six of which were on the offensive glass.

While his lone season under USC head coach Eric Musselman will not grab the attention of potential suitors, colleges can look back to his days at Robert Morris to evaluate the type of player that he is which is what led him to being one of the top mid-major transfer prospects last offseason.

Dickerson racked up many connections after he entered the transfer portal last season including Pitt, Arizona State, Cincinnati, Kansas State, Louisville, Missouri, NC State, Ole Miss, Oklahoma, Seton Hall, Syracuse, Villanova and Xavier but ultimately chose USC.

USC was the first and only publicized visit that Dickerson took after he departed Robert Morris, but some of those schools may come calling about Dickerson again this year.

With just one season of eligibility remaining, it is likely that Dickerson will be looking for a high-major program that can offer him a starting role.

As other former Robert Morris standouts showed this season such as Alvaro Folgueiras and Josh Omojafo, if he lands in the right spot, he can be a player that helps a program reach the NCAA Tournament.
