This time last year, the Robert Morris golf team placed dead last in the Horizon League.

As the Colonials head into the final round of the Horizon League Championships this year, they find themselves in fourth-place and just eight strokes out of first.

After the first round at Howey-in-the-Hills concluded on Saturday, the Colonials found themselves in seventh-place — exactly where they finished in the regular season standings — but used a total team score of 295 (+7) on Sunday to jump up three spots.

The Colonials had the best team score in second round of the tournament.

Currently, the Colonials find themselves behind first-place Wright State (+18), IU Indy and Cleveland State. That means that Robert Morris (+26) will need to make up some serious ground on the teams ahead of them in Monday’s final round but it is not an impossible feat.

The Colonials are currently being paced by the duo of Peyton Iverson and Ben Sheridan who are each individually tied for ninth-place as they both sit at +5 through the first two rounds of the tournament.

Sheridan posted a round-best score of 70 (-2) on Sunday which helped vault the Colonials up the scoreboard.

Chuck Tragesser is right behind the top-two Colonials individually as he is in 13th-place with a combined score of +6. Tanner Cardwell is currently tied for 24th-place while Luke Nelson is tied for 46th-place with a combined score of 163 (+19).

The Colonials begin the final round of the Horizon League Championships bright-and-early on Monday morning when Nelson tees off from hole No. 1 at 7:30 a.m. followed by the rest of his teammates shortly after him.
