Robert Morris Golf Finishes in Fourth-Place of Horizon League Championships

The Robert Morris golf team showed signs of improvement this season as the Colonials just placed fourth at the Horizon League Championships that were held at Howey-in-the-Hills at the Mission Resort in Florida.
The fourth-place finish is the program’s best finish in the league championships since they joined the Horizon League a few years ago. The duo of Peyton Iverson and Ben Sheridan paced the Colonials as they both finished tied for sixth overall in a field of 53 players as each shot a +5.
Chuck Tragesser was in 13th-place after the second round but ultimately finished tied for 19th with a +11. Tanner Cardwell finished just behind Tragesser with a +13 and tied for 23rd-place individually. Luke Nelson rounded things out as he placed in 47th-place with a +24.
In total, the team combined for a score of 898 (+34) over the three-round competition.
After the first round of the Horizon League Championships concluded on Saturday, the Colonials found themselves in seventh-place — exactly where they finished in the regular season standings — but used a total team score of 295 (+7) on Sunday to jump up three spots.
The Colonials had the best team score in second round of the tournament as Sheridan posted a round-best score of 70 (-2).
As they entered the final day, the Colonials were in fourth-place — which is where they ended at — and were just eight strokes out of first. The team combined to shot a +8 but in the end it did not matter as first-place Wright State shot a combined -1 as a team to deny any opposing program the hope of catching them.
While the collegiate golf season is at an end for Robert Morris, there is much to be hopeful for as the program moves forward. The Colonials had finishes of third-place, fifth-place, sixth-place, seventh-place and eventually fourth-place at the biggest tournament of their season which shows the massive improvement from a year ago.
