Horizon League Projects Another Strong Season for Robert Morris MBB
It will be hard for the Robert Morris men’s basketball team to top what was accomplished last season as the Colonials won both the Horizon League regular season title and tournament championship while sweeping the league’s major awards.
Last year’s team finished with 26 wins, which tied a program record, and a 15-5 league record. After claiming an auto-bid to March Madness for winning the Horizon League tournament, the Colonials gave No. 2-seed Alabama a run for its money in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament.
Due to the success on the court, head coach Andy Toole was named as the league’s Coach of the Year while forwards Alvaro Folgueiras earned Player of the Year and Amarion Dickerson won Defensive Player of the Year.

After losing all but one scholarship player from his Horizon League winning roster, Toole rebuilt his team with a handful of transfers.
Despite that, the Colonials are projected to have another strong season as the Horizon League announced its annual preseason rankings and awards on Wednesday.
The league’s head coaches, SIDs and media members voted Robert Morris as the preseason fourth-place team in the Horizon League, behind first-place Milwaukee, Oakland and Youngstown State.

While being voted fourth in total points, the Colonials actually received the second most first-place votes with eight. Only Milwaukee earned more first-place votes with 24.
The Colonials are represented by transfer forward DeSean Goode on the league’s All-Horizon Second Team.
Goode transferred to Robert Morris after a successful freshman season at Horizon League foe IU Indy. In his lone season in Indianapolis, Goode averaged 7.8 points and 6.0 rebounds per game as he shot 50.6% from the field and 36% from three-point range.

Robert Morris will tipoff their season in less than a month in a Nov. 4 showdown against former Colonials’ star Alvaro Folgueiras and the Iowa Hawkeyes. The Horizon League schedule will open up for the Colonials on Dec. 4 in a road game against Green Bay.
