Robert Morris Signee Layke Fields is Ready to ‘Show Out’ for City of Pittsburgh

After Chandler McCabe was hired last May as the women’s basketball head coach at Robert Morris, she did the unthinkable and led the Colonials to the Horizon League semifinals in Indianapolis. That came after her team was picked dead last in the preseason rankings.
Now, after the magical first season, McCabe is left picking up the pieces as only three players are returning for the 2025-26 season. Between the eight senior/graduate students and the wave of transfer departures, the Colonials return starting guards Noa Givon and Jada Lee along with freshman Jennica Suggs.
Thankfully for Robert Morris, McCabe identified the possibility of a roster overhaul early enough and got a head start on recruiting. She lured Pitt transfer guard Aislin Malcolm to Robert Morris as a mid-season transfer and then got a commitment from Mercyhurst transfer forward Bailey Kuhns following the season.
Those two coupled with the in-coming five-player freshman class that McCabe and the program signed back in November put the Colonials at 10 roster players at this point in the offseason.
While Malcolm and Kuhns likely join the returning three players as key components in next year’s rotation, some of the in-coming freshman could potentially see the court in a meaningful role. One that is on the fast track is Kennedy Catholic star forward Layke Fields.
Robert Morris Sports Now was able to talk to Fields earlier this week when she talked about her commitment to Robert Morris, her historic high school career and more.
