Transfer Portal Exodus Leaves Robert Morris WBB Roster Depleted

Robert Morris women’s basketball experienced a successful season under first-year head coach Chandler McCabe as she led the Colonials to Indianapolis for a Horizon League semifinal appearance.

Despite that, most of her roster is now gone following an exodus of players that left for the transfer portal.

The Colonials saw eight players enter the portal after it opened up on Monday. That came after the roster lost eight other players due to graduation. Only starting guards Noa Givon and Jada Lee return alongside guard/forward Jennica Suggs who played sparingly as a freshman.

While the number of players left on the roster might be a scary one to look at, McCabe and her staff have been working on reloading the roster since the middle of the season.

McCabe and Robert Morris picked up a mid-season transfer commitment from Pitt transfer guard Aislin Malcolm and then a commitment from Mercyhurst transfer forward Bailey Kuhns following the season.

In addition to the two transfers, Robert Morris signed a five-player freshman class back in November with two of them being local recruits in Oakland Catholic standout guard London Creach and Kennedy Catholic star forward Layke Fields.

Then, Colonials’ assistant coach Jack Trosper hinted at two more potential commits via an X post on Sunday.

It is unclear if the posts are actually signaling commitments but it would appear that way. While it is unknown which players they are for, if they are both either 2025 high school recruits and/or transfer portal additions, that would put the Colonials at 12 rostered players for next season.

So, despite just returning three players from this past season’s roster, McCabe and her staff are slowly, but surely, filling out their allotted scholarship spots as they gear up for another season.
